Jonathan's priorities are maintaining today's bridge, making district information easier to find, and protecting the people and institutions that depend on Pelican Island.
What Jonathan will focus on
Support a disciplined preventive-maintenance program built around inspection, corrosion control, painting, monitoring, documented repair planning, and emergency readiness. A future replacement does not remove today's duty of care.
Support a current, searchable, mobile-friendly public portal with accurate contacts; agendas and supporting material; meeting outcomes and vote results; budgets, audits, filing receipts, and project updates; dated corrections; and opt-in email or text notices for meetings and urgent bridge information.
Bring practical maritime judgment to decisions affecting Texas A&M Galveston, ship repair, port activity, emergency access, jobs, utilities, and long-term industrial opportunity.
Clear public information
The district should post routine information on time, in one place, and in formats that work on a phone.
Post current contact information and explain who handles each district responsibility.
Post agendas and supporting documents in advance, organized by date and easy to read on a phone.
Publish plain-language outcomes, recorded votes, and links to the documents behind each decision.
Keep budgets, audits, filing receipts, policies, and project updates in a searchable, dated archive.
Offer opt-in notices for meetings, project updates, closures, and urgent bridge information.
Support regular open-government and public-records training for commissioners and relevant staff so public information is handled consistently.
How Jonathan will make decisions
Jonathan will listen first, review the facts, and respect the limits of the office. He will not promise decisions that belong to TxDOT, other commissioners, or partner agencies.
